Enrichment activities promote a dog’s physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life.
What we offer
Black Walnut Kennels offer a selection of enrichment activities that offer mental stimulation, physical exercise and stress relief for dogs.
Physical Enrichment
Includes altering the quality and complexity of the dog’s living space.
We provide safe toys and have a rotation to maintain the enriching effect of the toys. The physical features of our suites include a bed and door to allow access to the outside on their own patio.
Sensory enrichment
Can be used to stimulate the different senses of dogs, such as sight, sound, or smell.
At Black Walnut Kennel, all our pets have visual access to the kennel environment. We including auditory enrichment like soothing music with the volume low. We also like to make a fresh batch of cookies daily, which is sure to enlighten your pups sense of smell – and maybe taste!
Occupational Enrichment
Helps keep dogs mentally stimulated, which combats boredom while also allowing them to release excess energy.
We provide opportunities to play sports, such as fetch as well as food puzzles that require the dog to “work” to get the food/treat out.
